Monday Movie Meme - Run Like the Wind

Today on the Monday Movie Meme, the Bumbles have the Boston Marathon on their minds, therefore our topic will be all about running.  Although our beloved Bumbles aren't running the marathon, they've lived or worked on the famous route most of their lives.  Today will mark the 115th of this famous race, so get your brains kick-started and try to think of movies that feature some form of running.  Not an easy one!  Here are a few that came to mind:

1. Chariots of Fire - of course.  I feel like this one is the no-brainer, and was tickled that Molly and Andy didn't take it.  Now that darned song is stuck in my head.

2.  The Incredibles - one of the members of this talented family, Dash, had the gift of speed.  I love this movie, but the cherry on top of the whole thing was Sarah Vowell as the voice of Violet.

3.  Juno - it is hard not to think of Paulie Bleeker when you mention running, skinny legs, headband and all.  (I have a fondness for headbands you see.)  Despite the fact that we've got a teenage pregnancy here, I find this movie completely charming, with great acting and the rapid-fire and uber cool screenplay written by Diablo Cody.

4.  Run Lola Run - dare ya to watch this one and not feel tired by the end.  This is a really fun movie about a girl (with killer red hair) that is in a race against time to save her loser boyfriend.

So now it is your turn!  I realize that Forest Gump isn't on my list, but that is because the Bumbles got first dibs.  Any others?

I loved Juno *except* for Michael Cera (Paulie)! He was just too unattractive and nerdy for me to seem like a realistic love object for Juno.

I loved Juno as well, and thought it was one of the funnier movies that I saw that year. Much discussion has revoled around Run Lola Run in my circles as well, but I have not yet seen it. I am going to have to rectify that!

Ditto what Jill said about Michael Cera. There is geek chic and then there is just geek. He falls in the latter category for me.

And my dopey contribution for today - the old Bill Murray movie Meatballs. Remembering the kid getting ready for the big run? Nickelodeon just ran Ghostbusters recently and my son has been on a Bill Murray movie run so this easily came to mind.

CHARIOTS OF FIRE brings back a lot of memories and, yes, that song does linger in the head. LOL

I didn't realize that Sarah Vowell did the voice of Violet. Love the INCREDIBLES too.

Good choices, and we're on the same wavelength with Run Lola Run (I love that movie)! :)

Forrest Gump is the first one that popped into my head, but Juno is a good one too.

Fun post. I loved Run Lola Run. For some reason the first running movie that comes to mind is The Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman.

Lola made my list too.

I also agree that Michael Cera seemed way too meh to be attractive to Juno. That movie was kind of boring....

Believe it or not I have never seen Chariots of Fire from start to finish!

I love Chariots of Fire!
I need to rent and rewatch that.

Poor Bleeker not getting any love here! I thought he was very sweet - I think that was kind of the point. Juno learned that the most important qualities in true love had been right under her nose the whole time. And being sweet, kind, loving and thoughtful are exactly what he was. In addition to a runner.

It's been years since I saw Run Lola Run, but I remember it was great.

I thought of Paulie's running shorts and then forgot to include him on my list!
